140 Years of Providential Caring was a collaborative effort with Pulitzer-nominated journalist and columnist Tom Shea of the Springfield Republican and Abu Dhabi National newspapers and New England Book Award-winning author Suzanne Strempek Shea, two talented writers who were an absolute joy to work with.

Written in celebration of the 140th anniversary of the Sisters’ arrival in Holyoke and the 120th anniversary of their incorporation as a congregation of the Springfield, Massachusetts, diocese, this book explores the history of a group of extraordinary women from their roots in Montreal to the present. The book combines interviews and profiles of individual Sisters with mini-histories of the Sisters’ institutions and programs, from hospitals, child care, and elder care in Massachusetts to missions in North Carolina and Chile.
